Supporting local schools
Named R.I.T.A (Reading Is The Answer), the machine is helping pupils to get excited about reading as part of an exciting new initiative.
We recently donated £250 so the school could purchase a variety of new books to encourage its pupils to read more
Every child receives a raffle ticket whenever they read at home and, each week, the raffle tickets are put into a prize draw. Pupils with the winning ticket receive a gold coin to put into R.I.T.A. to select a book they can take home, enjoy and keep. We love this idea and were only too happy to support it.
Sue Richardson, Headteacher of Preston Primary School, said: “The money is greatly received and we are thrilled that Taylor Wimpey chose our school as a beneficiary. The donation will replenish the books R.I.T.A. has to offer and boost our programme which is aimed at encouraging the children to develop early reading skills and a lifelong love for books. We keep R.I.T.A stocked with a continuous selection of books so we’re very grateful for this gesture.”
