Children have designs on health and safety in Edinburgh
Construction of new homes at our Farrier Fields development in South Gilmerton, Edinburgh is now well underway. As part of our health and safety talk to Gilmerton Primary, we set the children a challenge to design a health and safety poster that would remind the local community of the dangers associated with playing near any construction site.
The winner was Phoebe, and the standard of entries was so impressive that a further eight designs were selected to be included within a banner to be displayed at the development. As well as their designs featured on the banner, the children each won a £10 national book voucher.
Being proactive and working with local schools is important as Deryck Schendel, Regional Health and Safety Advisor for Taylor Wimpey in Scotland explains: “Health and safety in and around our construction areas is so important to Taylor Wimpey. As a follow-up activity to our in-school health and safety presentation, our poster challenge is a great way for children to demonstrate what they learned during our visit.”
