Our North Midlands team and a number of its suppliers have joined forces to deliver a Christmas surprise to a Wolverhampton charity that supports women and children fleeing domestic abuse.

Supporting our communities

Our North Midlands team recently donated £5000, as well as a number of brand new toys that were gifted by employees through its specially organised ‘big give’ scheme, to The Haven Wolverhampton.

A number of suppliers who work with our North Midlands team supported them with the initiative, including Shannonside, Aptus Utilities, WN Fencing, Roofstyle, S&J Plasterers, Ultra Plumbing & Heating, DBL Cleaning, M Nicholls Bricklaying Services, Central Electrical, Chapel Windows, Tonbrie Construction, Edwards Technical Mirrorrobes, LL Tiling, JJ Hancock, RS Miller, Chapel Windows and S&J Plasterers.

The Haven, which has been selected by our North Midlands team to be its local charity partner throughout 2024, provides practical and emotional support to those under its care, including  A 24/7 helpline, safe accommodation, specialist programmes, counselling and therapy and children’s services.

Hayley Powell, Senior Fundraiser at The Haven Wolverhampton said: “We’re absolutely blown away with the kindness shown by employees at Taylor Wimpey North Midlands and its suppliers. Christmas is a wonderful and special time, but it is often not so for those under our care, with many of them going through some really terrible experiences during the festive period and beyond. Through the donation we have received from Taylor Wimpey, we can help ensure the women and children we support still get to experience the magic. We’re also incredibly thankful for the support given by so many other businesses in the area, and are looking forward to working with Taylor Wimpey on other initiatives throughout the next twelve months.”

Sean Ridley, Managing Director at Taylor Wimpey North Midlands said: “I’m incredibly proud of all our Taylor Wimpey North Midlands employees for the incredible amount of toys they’ve managed to donate as part of our big give initiative.

“It was requested that all the presents we provided were delivered unwrapped so the Haven mums could hand-pick the presents they wanted to give to their children, so knowing that they will all have a special moment with their young ones this Christmas is awesome. We’ve already learned that they have taken an immense amount of joy in working with The Haven team to wrap up the gifts they selected and getting in the spirit of Christmas themselves.

“All year round, we’re always looking to give back to the communities in which we build, and we always select our charity partners with this firmly in mind. The Haven is a short car journey away from our headquarters, and as soon as we had contact with them and were made aware of their festive plans we were keen to support them as quickly as possible. We hope the monetary donation we’ve made is of immense help to them as they continue the invaluable work they carry out for the people in the Wolverhampton area during the Christmas period.

“Looking ahead, we’re delighted to have now confirmed The Haven as our local charity partner for 2024. We’re already thinking about what we can do to further support them over the next few months, and look forward to working with them again in the New Year.”
