Children have designs on health and safety in Ratho Station

Construction of new homes at our Lauder Grove development in Ratho Station is now well underway. As part of our recent health and safety talk to Hillwood Primary, we set the children a challenge to design a health and safety poster that would remind the local community of the dangers associated with playing near any construction site.

Impressive designs

Prizes for the top three designs were awarded as follows:

1st place - Niamh (P4); 2nd - Max (P6) and in 3rd place Lily (P7). The standard of entries was so impressive that a further six designs were selected to be included within the banners to be displayed at the development and the children each won a £10 national book voucher.

Being proactive and working with local schools is important as Deryck Schendel, Regional Health and Safety Advisor explains: “Health and safety in and around our construction areas is so important to us. As a follow-up activity to our in-school health and safety presentation, our poster challenge is a great way for children to demonstrate what they learned during our visit.”
