Educating school children across the UK about careers in construction

Over the last few months, we have been busy working with Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 4 pupils around the UK, encouraging them to learn all about housebuilding and the construction industry

Inspiring Taylor Wimpey employees of the future

As part of a UK wide initiative to inform and excite the next generation about the homebuilding industry and to raise awareness of the career opportunities available, many of our regional teams have donated educational packs to schools around the UK. These packs are full of educational resources and a variety of fun activities for pupils to complete.

So far, 753 educational packs have been ordered and we’ve visited a number of schools to present to pupils in person.

This initiative formed part of  the Million Makers challenge, which encourages organisations across the UK to compete to raise as much money as possible for The Princes Trust. Every year, the challenge collectively raises over £1million, which helps to change the lives of young people across the UK. By donating the educational packs and taking time out to visit local schools, we have raised £67,000 for The Princes Trust so far.

Now that the first round of educational packs and visits have been delivered, our teams are working to arrange additional sessions with local schools this year.
A spokesperson for Team Legacy said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the response to our educational packs and school visits. It’s been a real pleasure speaking to the students about what life is like working for Taylor Wimpey and the commitments we have made to be more sustainable and to look after our environment.

“Across the UK, students of all ages were very engaged and we hope we inspired them to consider a career with Taylor Wimpey in the future. We’re also delighted to have raised an amazing amount of money for The Princes Trust, which is such a worthy cause!”
