We help foster a love for reading in Maldon pupils with World Book Day donation

We encouraged pupils in Maldon to discover the joy of reading by donating £250 towards the World Book Day celebrations at All Saints Primary School.

Supporting our communities

Our team has supported All Saints Primary School with funding in the past, and this year’s World Book Day donation helped the school to buy books from the ‘Little People, Big Dreams’ series which explores the lives of notable people, from designers and artists to scientists and activists.

The school celebrated World Book Day by asking each pupil to dress up as a different word to enhance their vocabulary skills. They also took part in a bookmark design competition with the local bookshop ‘Maldon Books’ to help boost creativity amongst the pupils.

Krystal Horrocks, EYFS Phase Leader and Reading Lead at All Saints Primary School, said: “World Book Day is such a special occasion for us because it reminds us of the magic and importance of reading. It's a time when we celebrate the joy of storytelling and encourage pupils to make use of the power of imagination.

“We are incredibly grateful to Taylor Wimpey for their donation which will make a great difference in enriching our school library and providing our pupils with opportunities to explore the wonderful world of books.”

Michael O’Leary, Regional Operations and Sales Director at Taylor Wimpey London said: “Books are a fantastic way for children to improve their communication skills and spark their imaginations, which is why we often work with schools on World Book Day.

“We were delighted to support All Saints Primary School with a donation this year and it was great to see that the funding was used to buy such wonderful books. We hope the pupils will treasure and enjoy them for many years to come."
