Elevating Space and Style with Interior Design

Our homes are very much our own personal sanctuaries, they're the hub in which we create memories with our closest loved ones. We caught up with Megan Griffiths from Clayton & Company to help you achieve a stylish apartment.

Apartment decor design tips

1. Maximise Your Space

Our approach involves zoning different areas to maximise functionality. For example, strategically placing a desk near the TV point creates a seamless transition from a productive workspace during the day to an entertainment hub in the evening. Optimise floor space with wall hangings and utilise wall lights over floor lights to create a cosy ambience by using a combination of lighting.

2. Optimise Natural Light

To enhance natural light, we recommend using sheer fabric voiles for windows, strategically placed mirrors to bounce and amplify light, and low-level lighting solutions for warm and inviting evenings. These elements contribute to a well-lit, visually spacious, and welcoming living environment.

3. Get Creative With Colors, Materials, and Textures

Our design philosophy centres around impactful visual elements, incorporating focal points like feature wallpaper or oversized artwork to capture attention. Carefully plan window treatments to blend with the colour palette, ensuring a harmonious backdrop. Soft furnishings and complementary textures create a cohesive and visually striking atmosphere drawing interest and sparking conversation for your visiting guests.

4. Create a Sense of Spaciousness

Specific design elements, such as wall-hung television units, space-saving kitchen tables and nest of tables, play a crucial role in maximising functionality and aesthetics. Flexibility is key, select furniture which has dual functions to avoid closing off the space, creating an illusion of spaciousness.

5. Balcony Design Strategies

For apartments with balconies, prioritise greenery with low-maintenance artificial plants, outdoor mirrors to enhance the perception of space and benches that serve dual purposes for seating and storage. Stylish bistro sets can help to add colour and sophistication, transforming your balcony into a stylish retreat.
