We boost World Book Day celebrations at Ascot school

Our West London team has helped make this year's World Book Day a memorable occasion for pupils at South Ascot Village Primary School with a book voucher donation and storytelling session.

Glenda Counterman, Sales Executive for our West London team, visited the Ascot school on World Book Day to hand over a £250 voucher and read the pupils their favourite book; The Rainbow Bear, by Michael Morpugo.

Pupils at the school celebrated World Book Day, which took place on March 7th, by dressing up as their favourite book characters.

World Book Day promotes reading for pleasure, whilst aiming to provide every child and young person with the opportunity to have a book of their own.

Kate Rimell, Headteacher at South Ascot Village Primary School said: “World Book Day is an important annual celebration for not just our school, but for many more across the country. The children had a great time dressing up and listening to Glenda read them the wonderful The Rainbow Bear. On behalf of everyone at South Ascot Village Primary School, I'd like to thank them for their kind support.”

Gemma Bibby, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey West London, said: “World Book Day is an amazing initiative which encourages children in different communities all across the country to follow in the steps of their beloved fictional characters and hone their reading skills. We’re always proud to support the campaign, and are glad to hear that both pupils and staff at South Ascot Village Primary School had a fun-filled fictional day, which included a visit from Glenda, who is not only one of our sales executives but is also a very talented storyteller!

“We hope that our book voucher donation will ensure generations of children who move through South Ascot Village Primary School will have many more books to read over the years.”
