Pupils at Havannah First School in Newcastle upon Tyne recently enjoyed a lesson on sustainability and energy efficiency thanks to our North East team.

Darren McCallum, Quantity Surveyor for the housebuilder, visited the school and spoke in front of the pupils during the weekly assembly.

Through a fun and interactive presentation, he introduced the pupils to our approach to sustainability and environment preservation, as well as energy efficiency and what they can do in their own home.

Helen McKenna, Headteacher at Havannah First School, said: "We're very grateful to Taylor Wimpey North East for taking the time to talk to our pupils about such an important topic. With the insights gained from Darren's engaging talk, we think our pupils will be able to build on their learning about sustainability and will be applying this to the environment where they live."

Darren's talk at Havannah First School forms part of our ongoing wider school outreach efforts.

Darren McCallum, Quantity Surveyor at Taylor Wimpey North East, said: "It was great to be able to tell the pupil's all about the energy efficient materials used to build the new homes on our developments, as well as explaining what steps they can take to help reduce the amount of energy they use in their own home. I also spoke about the bird boxes, bug hotels and hedgehog highways that we install on many of our developments, including Heathwood @ Brunton Rise.

"It was a pleasure visiting Havannah First School and presenting such a vital presentation to them and I hope they all learnt something new on the day."
