We teach students in Berkshire about house building

Students from across Berkshire have been learning about house building and the construction industry thanks to a visit from our West London team.

Educating the next generation

For the second year running, our West London team visited Wellington College in Crowthorne to deliver a range of interactive sessions on housebuilding as part of the college's science, technology, engineering and maths focused day (STEM).

We worked with 148 pupils from 15 different state secondary schools in the region to teach them about the work that goes into being a successful housebuilder.

This included insight into acquiring land ahead of delivering a housing development and the number of different roles within our business, as well as a sustainability-focused talk covering our commitment to energy efficiency as it looks to the future.

As part of the college’s STEM Day, students were also challenged by our West London team to show their keen eye for construction by building weight-bearing towers out of straw and tape.

Wellington College Student Alliance arranges events throughout the year for the 28 schools in its partnership, aiming to raise aspirations and give students new opportunities.
