A thank you to nurses

Observed every year on 12th May, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth, International Nurses' Day celebrates and raises awareness of the work nurses do around the world which is often undervalued.

Our donation is part of our ongoing commitment to giving back to the community that surrounds our East Hollinsfield development in Middleton. Collaborating with NorthCare Charity, the official charity of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA), we donated a hamper filled with a variety of sweet treats as well as a box of cupcakes from Middleton bakery, Zara's Cakes.

Vick Thorne, Director of Nursing, said: "We want to celebrate and thank all of our nurses for the compassionate and safe care they offer our patients and service users. More than 500 nurses work across community and hospital services at Rochdale Care Organisation, and on International Nurses' Day we celebrate the amazing work our teams do everyday.

"As part of celebrations for International Nurses' Day, Taylor Wimpey kindly donated boxes of cupcakes and a large, sweet treat hamper for our nurses which we gave away to the winning teams of our International Nurses' Day competition to enjoy as a thank you for all the work they do."

Sam Evans, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Manchester, said: "We're proud to celebrate the work nurses do around the world this International Nurses' Day and hope the staff at Rochdale Infirmary enjoy their gifts. Nurses are incredibly essential, yet undervalued and awareness days such as these remind us just where we would be without their dedication."
