We partnered with Our Lady of the Angels RC Primary School to design a sign for the newly installed beehive at Edlogan Wharf.
Our winner, Rio Bowen from Year 6 will have her design installed on the development’s beehive for all residents to enjoy.
Kate Lacey, Sales, Marketing and Customer Service Director for Taylor Wimpey South Wales, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Our Lady of the Angels RC Primary School for helping us to design a sign for the beehive at Edlogan Wharf and to Rio for her winning design. It’s been lovely to see all of the children’s creativity throughout the competition.
“We hope that our beehive installation can contribute to reversing the trend of a declining bee population, while encouraging our residents to enjoy outdoor community spaces.”
We donate 1000 to local hospice
We recently awarded St David’s Hospice, a charitable organisation providing palliative care, with £1,000 as we announced them as our Community Chest competition winner.
The charity provides comprehensive palliative care to patients, families and carers facing life-limiting illnesses across South East Wales, delivering services both in patients' homes and at their purpose-built hospice. They believe everyone deserves quality, compassionate care wherever and whenever needed.
Since caring for just 6 patients in its first year, St David's Hospice Care has expanded to support over 3,736 patients annually. The organisation relies on charity shops, a weekly lottery and fundraising events to maintain vital services.
Kris Broome, Director of Fundraising and Lottery, said: "St David's Hospice Care provides essential palliative care completely free of charge. Community support like this donation from Taylor Wimpey South Wales means a great deal and helps make a meaningful difference."
Kate Lacey, Sales, Marketing and Customer Service Director for Taylor Wimpey South Wales, commented: "As we establish our community in Cwmbran, we're pleased to support a local cause offering crucial assistance. St David's Hospice Care does incredible work, and we're confident this donation will help them continue their invaluable services."
We hosted a charity golf tournament
On Friday 8th August 2025, Taylor Wimpey South Wales raised over £8,000 for Velindre Cancer Centre through a charity golf tournament held at Newport's Llanwern golf club.
The event saw participation from numerous golfers, including Taylor Wimpey staff and subcontractors, all coming together to support the charity's mission of caring for individuals facing terminal illness.
The tournament benefited from strong community involvement, with various local businesses contributing prizes and event sponsorship.
Emma Prince, Fundraising Manager at Velindre Cancer Centre, commented: "We couldn't be more pleased with how successful the golf day turned out to be, and we're extremely appreciative of the wonderful support we've experienced. It has provided an incredible lift for everyone involved, and we're deeply grateful for Taylor Wimpey's ongoing commitment and for meeting such remarkable people during the event.
"With one in two people being diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, support like this is more important than ever. Donations like this enable us to fund Specialist Nurses, vital psychological support for patients and staff along with a range of children and family resources for those who need them most.
"We are proud to champion person-centered care, placing the dignity, comfort, and emotional needs of every patient and loved one at the heart of what we do and fund."
Kate Lacey, Sales and Customer Director at Taylor Wimpey South Wales, added: "We're delighted to have had the opportunity to support Velindre Cancer Centre. Often referred to as the 'Hospital of Hope,' this facility delivers crucial specialist cancer care to more than 1.7 million people across South East Wales and the surrounding areas.
"Our sincere thanks go to all those who participated and contributed to making this golf day such an outstanding success."

Education the next generation
Johanne Jones, Apprentice Manager for the housebuilder, visited the school and spoke in front of 248 pupils during the weekly assembly. Through a fun and interactive presentation, she introduced the pupils to the many facets of our tried and tested approach to construction: from site safety measures around construction zones to our approach to sustainability and environment preservation.
Jade Eaves, Acting Deputy Headteacher at Maendy Primary School, said: “We’re very grateful to Taylor Wimpey South Wales for taking the time to talk to our pupils about such important topics, particularly when we have plans to complete building work at our school in the near future. This is not your typical curriculum but it’s nevertheless a highly relevant topic that really grabbed the attention of our pupils. With the insights gained from Johanne’s engaging talk, we think more than a few of our children had their interest piqued – and we look forward to helping them learn more about the broader world of work.”
