Development layout at Sapphire Fields at Great Western Park in Didcot

Leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey has responded to huge interest in its popular Great Western Park development in Didcot by announcing the release of a fresh collection of stunning new houses and apartments at Sapphire Fields.

Property-seekers are moving quickly to take their pick from the new homes available in this sought-after location, and to meet the continuing demand, Taylor Wimpey has unveiled this brand new phase of properties.

The new collection comprises beautiful three and four-bedroom houses and stylish two-bedroom apartments, offering something for purchasers in a wide range of circumstances.

Nikki Gibson, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Oxfordshire, says: “Great Western Park continues to prove incredibly popular with buyers, and so we’re delighted to be opening up even more fantastic opportunities for people to own a brand new home within this exciting development.

“This new phase enjoys a prime location at Great Western Park within easy reach of a host of local facilities, nestled between the open space of Boundary Park, the new secondary school which is currently under construction and the proposed health centre. It’s really going to be a great place to live.”

Didcot Senior level 2 New Uniforms (2)The Didcot Diamonds Cheerleading Club, based in Didcot, are jumping for joy after receiving a generous donation from Taylor Wimpey Oxfordshire.
The leading local housebuilder, which is currently building high-quality homes at Great Western Park on the outskirts of the town, has donated £500 to the club to help pay for brand new uniforms for its members.

Sue Cross, head coach at Didcot Diamonds Cheerleading Club, says: "Our uniforms were starting to look quite tired and out of date, so we set out to replace them.“Unfortunately the retailer we used to source our uniforms from changed its supplier, so we had to get in touch with a company based in America to ensure we could get the outfits we wanted and a great cut. “It’s extremely important for our members that they look good in their outfits, as it will give them confidence and allow them to raise their level of performance, which will ultimately boost the club’s chance of success.”

The club has been running for over 10 years and currently has 46 members aged between five and 19, who compete in the junior level 1 and senior level 2 squads.

“Their new uniforms look wonderful,” says Sue. “They’re red, white and blue to match our club colours and have lots of sparkle to link with our name Didcot Diamonds!
“This donation will make a huge difference to the team. We’ve never had a sponsor before so it’s fantastic to have this support from Taylor Wimpey.”
Taylor Wimpey offered to help the members of the club after they appealed to the leading housebuilder for support. “Our fees have always been enough to cover the costs of everything else, such as hall hire and insurance, but because we knew that the uniforms were going to be quite an expense we asked Taylor Wimpey for their help,” says Sue.“We’ve bought cheaper uniforms in the past and they never last very long or withstand a lot, so we decided to invest in some high-quality ones and we’re really grateful for this support.”The new uniforms will be mainly used by the senior level 2 team, which comprises 21 girls and one boy.

“We’re also fundraising to help cover the costs of the new uniforms, with our next event being a quiz night on Friday 15th April,” continues Sue.

“This sponsorship is amazing for everyone – for six years our members have been using the same uniform, whereas now they will have brand new sparkly outfits that they can feel good wearing.

“The new uniforms will arrive in time for when we compete in the British Cheerleading Association in Guildford this June!”

The Didcot Diamonds recently came fourth out of 12 cheerleading squads in the Future Cheer Heart of England competition, which took place at The NEC Birmingham in February.

Sue adds: “Cheerleading isn’t just pom poms like people assume – our club will compete against other squads by performing two-minute routines that include stunts and dance.

“We’d like to say a massive thank you – it’s a real boost to the club and means we don’t have to pass on this expense to our members.”

Nikki Gibson, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Oxfordshire, says: “We’re delighted to show our support for Didcot Diamonds Cheerleading Club – it’s great to know that our help has made such a difference to the team.

“We wish the club the best of luck for their upcoming tournaments and hope they enjoy wearing their new uniforms.”
