Wash the woodwork

For a house that looks sparkling clean all over, don’t forget to pay attention to skirting boards, doors, window frames and any other woodwork. Use a mix of fabric softener and water to get it looking fresh and smelling gorgeous.

Get glass gleaming

Mirrors are fantastic for making your home look lighter and for creating an illusion of space. Enhance the reflection properties of your mirrors by ensuring they’re clean and streak-free. The top solution for this is white vinegar spray – apply to the glass and wipe with a fluffy microfibre cloth to remove all the smears.

Access all areas

If you’re planning to include white goods with your property sale, think about how those appliances will appear to potential home buyers and make sure they’re clean on the inside as well as on the outside. To clean your fridge, empty the contents, remove the shelves and fill the bottom shelf with washing up liquid and disinfectant. Use this to wipe down the inside and outside of the fridge, then remove marks with cleaning paste.

Bin bad smells

Don’t let bad smelling bins scupper your chances of attracting home buyers, and keep those odious odours under wraps.

Zoflora is the answer. Use your favourite concentrated disinfectant, to give your bin a fresh aroma. Place a tissue soaked with the sweet scented disinfectant at the bottom of the bin, then line it with a bag as you would usually.

As an alternative try smearing your bin lid with a natural oil such as citronella, tea tree oil or eucalyptus.

Sink or swim

The kitchen is an area that many home buyers focus on, so it’s important you show off your cookspace at its best. A squeaky clean kitchen sink is key. To get your plug hole smelling fantastic start by pouring a cup of soda crystals down the hole, followed by a cup of white vinegar – the mixture will start fizzing. Add a cup of Zoflora and leave for a few minutes, then pour a kettle of boiling water to wash it all away.
