Dreaming of a tropical paradise with sun loungers, palm trees and bamboo, or perhaps a relaxed Italian vibe, with olive trees and plenty of space to dine outdoors? Whatever the vision, there are so many possibilities for your brand new garden. Take a look at the things we recommend thinking about when it comes to making the most of your outdoor space.

Keen gardener or laid-back landscaper?

If you’ve got green fingers then you may be bursting with ideas already. However, for the low-maintenance gardeners amongst us, do some research into plants and designs that don’t need a lot of attention. You could even choose to go for decking, paving or artificial grass to cut down on mowing. Whatever you choose, your outdoor space will still welcome nature from birds to hedgehogs and everything in between. With less to worry about, you can spend more time enjoying your outdoor space.

Make it 'you'

Think of your garden as an extension of your home, an extra place to add your style and personality. And you never know when and how inspiration may strike.

@perrydukeshome
lives in one of our Ashton G house types, and a simple home purchase led them to them turning their entire garden into a fun and vibrant sanctuary.

Enjoy a sit down

Whether you love entertaining friends and family al fresco or are dreaming of reclining in the sunshine, for most people furniture is an essential part of a garden. As well as the practical things (like how many seats you may need and where you will store them in the winter), spend some time thinking of the aesthetics too. Garden furniture can be a statement for your outdoor space, and one of the easiest ways to create a design you love.

Think about what you need

Your garden can be as versatile as you need it to be. Whatever the size, there are simply no limits, just think of it as an opportunity to get a little creative with borders, plants, furniture and lighting. @perrydukeshome split their garden into three sections.

Illuminate your space

If you enjoy spending time outdoors after dark and want a cosy space to sit under the stars, good lighting can make all the difference. Twinkling festoon lights wrapped across a pergola can feel magical, while statement uplights provide both practicality and style. Whatever you choose, know that lighting one of the easiest ways to create an impact and welcoming ambience.
