Earlier this year, pupils from Whitley and Eggborough were encouraged to discover the joy of reading after we helped to provide new books to mark this year’s World Book Day.
We donated £250 to Whitley & Eggborough Community Primary School to help stock its library.
Following our donation, the school has recently opened its library bus, a fully refurbished bus providing an exciting reading space for children and allowing them access to lots of books across several genres.
Mrs Alison Coventry, Headteacher at Whitley & Eggborough Community Primary School, said: “We really appreciate this donation from Taylor Wimpey as it has helped us grow our library for our pupils to enjoy. It has not only enriched the school’s resources but also directly supported their educational journey.”

Kit sponsorship for football team
We supported Thorpe United by sponsoring a new kit for its Under 8 squad.
Selby-based Thorpe United, which has around 500 players, ranging in age from five years to veterans, approached us for support.
The U8 Blue team play in the Selby district league competing against teams from Garforth, Doncaster, Goole and the Selby area. Facilities at the club’s grounds in Field Lane include four changing rooms, an officials’ changing room, as well as a club house and function room. There are two adult pitches, numerous junior pitches, a cricket pitch and a 3G pitch to facilitate the junior section and training.
Thorpe United spokesperson Tom Lonsdale said: “Having the support of Taylor Wimpey has given our squad a real boost, and we really appreciate their sponsorship. Our players are very proud to wear their new coats, which really help them feel part of our expanding team.”

Supporting rescued donkeys at local sanctuary
We supported the Wonkey Donkey Visitors Centre, in Knottingley, by presenting them with a £500 donation.
The centre, which rescues and rehabilitates ill and mistreated donkeys, marked its 10th anniversary last year. It has been fundraising to provide a covered outdoor area where volunteers can care for the donkeys.
Jennifer Howarth, spokesperson for Wonkey Donkey Visitors Centre, said: “It was lovely to see Taylor Wimpey take such an interest in the work that we do and come to the sanctuary to meet us and the donkeys. We are very grateful for their donation.
“However, our work isn’t just about what we can do for the donkeys, but what they can do for us, and we also work closely with colleges and schools and people with all abilities and disabilities to help with rehabilitation.”
Since the centre opened, it has rescued more than 30 donkeys, with some requiring hours of rehabilitation over months, or even years, due to the trauma they have suffered.
