Buglife and Kents Hill Park Primary visit
Pupils at Kents Hill Park Primary School were invited to the development to learn about the importance of sustainability in nature and take part in several engaging and educational activities.Representatives from Buglife, the only organisation in Europe which is devoted to the conservation of all invertebrates, were on hand to teach pupils how to make their very own pollinator garden with a planter, peat free compost and a selection of seeds. The pupils also learned how bird boxes were made and played a game of bug bingo.
Hannah Ablitt, Senior Assistant Headteacher at Kents Hill Park Primary School, said: “We were delighted when Taylor Wimpey invited us to visit its Bronze Park development for a sustainability session. The Buglife team were amazing and the pupils had a fantastic time learning about pollinators and how bird boxes were made. On behalf of everyone at the school, I’d like to thank Taylor Wimpey and Buglife for putting together an insightful visit for our children.”
Paul Hetherington, Director of Fundraising and Communications at Buglife, said: “The next generation has a crucial part to play in sustainability, so it’s always great when we get the opportunity to teach them about the importance of pollinators. The pupils were thoroughly engaged and it was fantastic to see them getting stuck into the various activities on the day.”
On the day, Tom Densham, Sustainability Champion at Taylor Wimpey South Midlands, also delivered a presentation where he explained to the pupils what features are in place to make sure that local wildlife is considered at Bronze Park. He explained how the development would eventually be home to hedgehog highways, ponds, beebricks and bug hotels.
He said: “We had a fantastic day with the children, sharing our plans for Bronze Park and how several items will be installed to provide safe spaces for wildlife in and around the development. The pupils asked lots of questions and jumped at the chance to get hands on with the Buglife team when it came to filling the planters and packing the bird boxes. We hope they had a wonderful day and went home to share what they’d learnt with friends and family.”
Design a flag competition
Children at Kents Hill Park Primary have been busy putting their creative skills to the test by designing flags to welcome residents and visitors to our new Bronze Park development.
Our team challenged pupils at the school - which is situated opposite Bronze Park - to design its new welcome flags, with the winners having the opportunity to see their designs come to life and be installed at the development.
The winners, Natalie Lightfoot from year five and Hanna Elashram from year six, both received £50 Amazon vouchers as a prize. Natalie’s bold design was chosen for its detail, with our Sales Team loving her innovative creation and reference to the well-known wooden statue of a boy and girl back to back on a roundabout next to the school. Hanna’s design was selected for its originality, with the team praising the vibrant green colour scheme, the beautiful tree and the cat that featured on the swing.
"The fun flag design competition was a brilliant opportunity for our pupils to showcase their developing creative skills and we couldn’t be prouder of Natalie and Hanna for their winning designs. We’d like to thank Taylor Wimpey for thinking of us when setting up the competition!" Hannah Draper, Deputy Headteacher.
Defibrillator donations
With the recent completion of various new homes developments in the South Midlands region, we have donated three public access defibrillators (PAD's) to Community Heartbeat Trust, a charity which aims to help and support communities in the correct provision of defibrillators. These will now be placed in several accessible locations within Milton Keynes.
Angela Price, Volunteer for the Community Heartbeat Trust, said: “We can’t thank Taylor Wimpey and the BHF enough for this kind donation. I got involved with Community Heartbeat Trust (CHT) a few years ago following the tragic loss of my son to a sudden cardiac arrest, it was completely unexpected as he was just 18 years old.
The Community Heartbeat Trust helps support individuals and community groups in the attainment, siting, maintenance, use and emergency access of defibrillators for the local community. Even though we hope they aren’t used often, it is reassuring to know that they can be accessed in the event of an emergency and hopefully save somebody’s life.”
A defibrillator is a portable device that can be used by anyone to help restart the heart when someone suffers from a cardiac arrest and has stopped breathing. No specific training is needed and the device will only deliver a shock to the heart if necessary. When someone has a cardiac arrest, every second counts. For every minute that passes without defibrillation and CPR the chances of survival decrease by around ten per cent. This initiative on donating PADs begun in 2019 with the British Heart Foundation and Taylor Wimpey and is something we will continue to do so.
Welcome to the neighbourhood
If you're looking for a place to put down roots for your family in popular Kents Hill with other like minded residents, then Bronze Park is the perfect place to settle.
Although the development is in it's infancy, many customers have already decided to make this green corner of Kents Hill home thanks to the attractive, red brick family homes and close proximity to schools, perfect for the kids to make friends at and walk to school with.
Having Kents Hill Park just behind us is proving to be a draw for those looking for an outdoors lifestyle. A quick walk around the corner and there are routes to walk the dog and appreciate the array of tree species to see within the woodland.
Meet our team
Deborah, one of our sales executives, has been selling Taylor Wimpey homes across the South Midlands region since 2015. Previously based at our Shenley Park development, Deborah is now looking forward to welcoming new customers to Bronze Park this year.
Deborah said: “I like my role as I have an interest in property, especially new builds, having built my own house many years ago. I like the sociable aspect of the job, too, as I get to meet some lovely people.
Benefitting from plenty of natural light
Deborah explains what she thinks will attract home hunters to Bronze Park: “I'm looking forward to selling homes at Bronze Park; it’s based in a very popular and well situated area of Milton Keynes and I think customers will find this attractive. There are also unique and varied selections of homes to choose from.”
Deborah can’t wait to get started, adding: “There is a real ‘buzz’ when you help customers to realise their dreams of buying a new home.”
Working alongside Deborah is Ben Richman, who joined our team last year as a sales executive.
Ben shares what led him to this career: “I have always worked in the forefront of customer service. Within this particular job you are able to change people's lives for the better, helping them with a home to be proud of; that really attracted me to this role.
“Since joining, I’ve really enjoyed speaking to new people and making their transition into their new home as stress free as possible.”
Ben, who was born in Milton Keynes, discussed his personal experience of the local area and what he feels makes Bronze Park stand out.
“I have family within Kents Hill and I know first hand it's a lovely place to settle within close proximity to everything Milton Keynes has to offer. It’s a smaller development with surrounding woodland walks which will make for a wonderful place to call home.
“I’m really excited for the launch of this development. Its useful links to Central Milton Keynes, the M1, Willen Lake and Kingston shopping centre make it the ideal home for families and commuters alike.”
