We have donated a £250 voucher to Orchard Grove School to mark World Book Day and celebrate the 2026 National Year of Reading, helping the school purchase new books and to fund a reader to come to the school for the day.The donation will benefit pupils at the school, located close to our Orchard Grove development in Taunton, and further strengthens links between the housebuilder and the local community.
With 2026 recognised nationally as the Year of Reading, a campaign encouraging reading for pleasure among children and young people, the funding will enable teachers to expand the school’s collection of age-appropriate books and literacy materials. The new resources will support pupils’ reading development, inspire a love of storytelling and enhance learning in the classroom.

Jacob and Susanna find room to grow at Orchard Grove in Taunton
After outgrowing their one bedroom flat in Wellington, the couple were looking for somewhere quieter, more spacious, and that gave them the opportunity to take their first step onto the property ladder. They found what they were looking for at Taylor Wimpey’s Orchard Grove and moved into their new home in December 2025.
For Jacob, a new-build home was the obvious choice. He said: “I wanted a new‑build because of how low maintenance it is, plus the energy efficiency features, modern layout, warranties, and the ability to personalise the home to our liking.”
After exploring his options, Orchard Grove immediately stood out. Jacob said that the development appealed to him because of its close proximity to his wife’s workplace, and the ‘community feel, transport links, nearby schools, and layout of the development’.
Having now settled into their new home, the couple describe Orchard Grove as ‘well designed, spacious and friendly’. Of their time here so far, Jacob said “Living here has been positive, peaceful and convenient. I’ve particularly enjoyed the tranquillity around here despite the ongoing development.”
The family opted for a semi-detached house, to give them space and the affordability they were looking for. Jacob explained: “I chose the Semi-detached house type, it was affordable and I was particularly impressed by the garden size, parking, and privacy of the house.”
Jacob also found the buying process with Taylor Wimpey easy and praised the incentives available. “I used the deposit contribution scheme, which helped as I only had to pay 5% and Taylor Wimpey matched with an additional 5%.”
Looking back on his experience, Jacob reflected: “The whole process felt smooth and well‑supported, especially thanks to the sales team, who were always friendly, patient and quick to answer any questions.”
