First-Time Buyers Swap Renting For Semi-Rural Living
Taiwo Agboola (30), a Service Advisor, and her husband, Ibukunoluwa (30), an engineer, moved into their Taylor Wimpey home at Riven Stones in March 2025. The couple and their two children had previously rented their home four miles away in Darwen, but with our help, they were able to move to their dream family home. The thought of a new-build home and all the benefits that come with it really appealed to the Agboola family. Taiwo said: “We were renting a fairly old semi-detached home before and we loved the thought of being the very first people to live in a home. Things like energy conservation, up-to-date technology and being environmentally friendly are also really important to us, and it’s just something that you can’t get with a secondhand home."
When asked why they chose Riven Stones in Blackburn, Taiwo said: “It’s a fantastic location for our family with well-rated schools and local amenities close by. After visiting the development we could see how quickly the neighbourhood was growing in such a serene location, and we were so pleased to become a part of it.”
The couple chose the four-bedroom Lydford house type, Taiwo explains: “We love the fact that the Lydford has a spacious layout and is a detached property. The storage is generous, which we definitely needed with two children, and the triple glazing has really kept the house warm as we move from winter to spring. The children are absolutely loving how big the garden is too.”
Despite being first-time buyers, Taiwo and Ibukunoluwa found the sales process smooth sailing. Taiwo said: “Everything was straightforward and fell right into place. The timelines were incredibly accurate which really helped us with our moving plans, especially being in a rented property. Gareth, our Sales Manager, was so helpful and informative throughout, keeping us updated on the progress and letting us know the best incentives for us.”
Newlyweds Upsize to Create Their Perfect Family Home
Chris Spence (33), a Telecoms Field Manager, and his wife, Laura (29), a Customer Service Advisor, found that they needed more space after getting married and wanting to start a family. Thanks to our Easymover scheme, they were able to sell their old home and receive the keys to their perfect family home within just three months. When asked why they chose a new-build home over a pre-owned one, Laura said: “We love the fact that we are the first people to live in the home, giving us a fresh, blank canvas to create the home of our dreams. We also like the security and guarantees a new-build brings.”
After exploring various new-build developments across Lancashire, Chris and Laura chose Riven Stones, Chris said: “Everything seemed to feel right on our first visit to Riven Stones, it is really well kept and has a village feel about it. I love the outdoors and the countryside and given Riven Stones’ semi-rural location near the moors, Feniscowles is perfect.
“We wanted to look for a quieter and picturesque place to live and love the views of the countryside from our home at Riven Stones, and the ease of access to the motorway and local public transport, Laura’s job, our families and local amenities is a huge bonus.
The couple chose the four bedroom Lydford house type, Laura said: “We love the layout of the house. The utility room and large, spacious kitchen really impressed us as well as the other room sizes. We are confident that this is a perfect family home.”
When asked about the sales process, Chris said: “The sales team really looked after us and encouraged us to visit as many times as we liked. They kept us up to date with our progress and really made it feel like we were on a journey. We were also really impressed with Taylor Wimpey’s Touch Point app, which was useful in planning our move and keeping us up to date with the progress of our purchase.
"The Easymover scheme really takes a lot of the stress out of selling a previous home and buying a new one. The incentives such as estate agent fees being paid for and deposit contributions were too good to miss. From there, everything seemed to move quickly and within an hour of our old home going to the market, we already had two viewings booked. We had then sold it within a week and reserved our new Taylor Wimpey home two days after. The whole process from deciding to use the Easymover scheme to collecting the keys to our new home took only three months. We couldn’t believe how quick it went and how stress free it was.”
After moving into their new home in November 2024, Chris shared their favourite things about their home, Riven Stones, and the local area: “We love how warm and comfortable our home is. The build quality has really impressed, it feels premium and well thought out.
“Riven Stones is quiet and the neighbours are friendly. I frequently work from home and find it really peaceful here. My favourite moment so far has been looking out of the window in the morning and watching the deer frolic in the nearby fields. The local area is friendly and feels incredibly safe. I love the proximity to the countryside and can’t wait to explore the area further.
“We really do feel well looked after by the sales team and settled in and we can both honestly say that we made the right decision. Everything went so smoothly and easily and I really do think that this is because we chose Taylor Wimpey.”

We Support Local School with Trip to Blackburn Museum & Art Gallery
We are delighted to share our support for Eden School in Blackburn with a £200 donation towards its recent educational trips to Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery.
The trips to Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery took place across three separate dates in June and children from years 6 to 9 were given the opportunity to explore artefacts and activities related to the topics they are currently studying in History.
Sophie Gooding, Deputy head & History Lead at Eden School, said: “We are very grateful for the support we have received from Taylor Wimpey. It has allowed our pupils to further develop their understanding of the History curriculum through the expertise of the Museum staff and exciting, practical activities. They all thoroughly enjoyed their visits”.
Sam Evans, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Manchester, said: “We are thrilled to have collaborated with Eden School for these exciting school trips. It's fantastic to contribute towards education in the area and we are proud to provide children with opportunities for experiential learning beyond the school premises."
The trips not only brought excitement to the children at Eden School but also served as a perfect example of the positive impact that collaboration between businesses and schools can have on local communities.
We Inspire Creativity and a Green Thumb for Darwen School
We collaborated with Sudell Primary School, part of Aldridge Education, to host a series of exciting activities as part of our ongoing commitment to give back to the community surrounding Riven Stones.
For the first activity, we challenged Sudell Primary School pupils to design a welcome card which will be delivered to welcome the new residents at Riven Stones.
Many enthusiastic children from the school took part, each showcasing their artistic talents. Our team at Riven Stones selected three designs from those submitted, designed by Tiana (Year 4), Holly (Year 2) and Lacey-Jade (Year 4).
As a thank you for providing the welcome card designs, we gifted a £100 National Book Token voucher to Sudell Primary School, which will allow the school to purchase books from any bookstore in the UK and online.
The pupils were also invited to Riven Stones to participate in some planting. This initiative aimed to create a key feature for residents and the wider community to enjoy while teaching the children valuable gardening tips and information about the plants.
Jenna Harty, Principal at Sudell Primary School, said: "We've been really pleased to work with Taylor Wimpey, and the children enjoyed designing the welcome cards - they're excited that their artwork will greet all the new families moving in. They also had a great day at the Riven Stones development, spending time outdoors, learning about plants, and getting stuck in with planting too.
“Our school is just 10 minutes down the road from Riven Stones, and we're really proud of our team who work hard to encourage happy, resilient learners and create a vibrant, supportive community of children, families and staff. Every single Sudell Primary School child is valued and nurtured. We welcome anyone who is looking for a local primary school in the area to come and have a look at the fantastic learning going on in our school any time."
Sam Evans, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Manchester, said: “We are thrilled to have collaborated with Sudell Primary School with these fun activities. It's heartening to witness the creativity and enthusiasm of the children and we are proud to contribute to the development of artistic skills within the community and also encourage a love for gardening with the planting session at Riven Stones.”
