The garden has become a real source of pride for our school, offering students a place to connect with nature, learn new skills, and work together. Taylor Wimpey East Scotland wins Gold at the 2026 Commonwealth Environment & CSR Awards
Taylor Wimpey East Scotland is celebrating a major sustainability milestone after being awarded Gold at the 2026 Commonwealth Environment & CSR Awards, held recently in Glasgow. The accolade recognises the business’s leadership in environmental innovation and its pioneering work to reduce construction waste through a collaborative project with Reconomy Connect.
The awards present a unique opportunity for any company in any country across the Commonwealth to earn global recognition for their environmental endeavours or their Corporate Social Responsibility commitments. In a nod to Glasgow’s role as the host of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, winners received specially commissioned medals in place of traditional trophies.
The award-winning project focuses on improving Waste Segregation, Waste Intensity Reduction, Container Utilisation & Circular Use of Construction Materials on construction sites and strengthening education through an accessible, video-based toolbox talk. The project aligns people, processes and technology to reduce waste and embed sustainable behaviours across Taylor Wimpey’s operations.
With support from project partner Reconomy Connect, this pilot project has already delivered measurable improvements and is now being used as a blueprint for rollout across Taylor Wimpey’s 22 regional businesses throughout the UK.
The judging panel praised Taylor Wimpey East Scotland for its forward-thinking approach, noting:
“Taylor Wimpey is transforming its approach to reducing construction waste by refreshing training and communications, with East Scotland leading the way. The team develop practical resources and champion best practice, creating a model for all regions that delivers environmental and business benefits.”
Karen Malt, Project Manager and Sustainability Champion for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said: “Winning Gold at the Commonwealth Environment & CSR Awards is a fantastic moment for our team. This project shows what’s possible when practical innovation meets strong collaboration. By giving our site teams the tools and knowledge they need, we’re seeing real, measurable improvements — and this recognition reinforces the impact of that work.
“Being honoured during the Commonwealth Games makes it even more special. It’s a reminder that environmental progress is a global effort, and we’re proud that Taylor Wimpey East Scotland is contributing to that momentum. | 17th August 2026 | The works to complete the surfacing of a section of footpath on Whitefield Road north of Queen Margaret Fauld have been slightly delayed, and they are expected to be completed this week. We are sorry for any local inconvenience caused by this essential work. |
| August 2026 | We are pleased to confirm that the main roadworks at the Whitefield Road/Robertson Road junction are complete, and all traffic management measures have been removed. Temporary traffic lights are currently in place ahead of the installation of permanent signals, scheduled for the week commencing 17 August 2026. Once the permanent signals are operational, our contractor will return briefly to complete anti skid surfacing and a small section of footpath at the Queen Margaret Fauld north mini roundabout. This final phase will take only a few days. A Road Safety Audit will then be undertaken, as is standard practice, and submitted to Fife Council to ensure the roundabout operates safely for all road users. Phase 1 works on Whitefield Road will now progress to provide service connections and sewer works north of Glenalmond. This work is expected to take around five weeks before the programme moves to Kingseat Road where work to complete the junction to the north of our Whitefield Gardens development in line with approved planning and technical consents will begin. We are working towards opening the realigned Whitefield Road through our development – newly renamed as Eliza Way – by late December 2026. We apologise for any inconvenience caused as we continue delivering the new Whitefields neighbourhood and please be assured that we remain committed to minimising disruption. |
