Taylor Wimpey North Thames has proudly donated £500 to Feed Up Warm Up, a local homeless charity in Hertfordshire, as part of its commitment to give back to the local community close to its Weston Gate development. The donation will support the charity's vital work providing food, friendship, and outreach services to those experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness in the Hitchin and Stevenage areas.Feed Up Warm Up operates two weekly drop-in sessions in Hitchin and Stevenage, where volunteers serve hot meals and provide takeaway food parcels. The charity serves approximately 400 hot meals and food parcels every month to those in need. In addition to providing food, the charity offers street outreach services, helping individuals access temporary accommodation, shelter, and emotional support.
Jason Turner, Sales Manager at Taylor Wimpey North Thames said: "At Taylor Wimpey, we are committed to supporting the communities where we build, and Feed Up Warm Up’s work is incredibly important. We recognise the increasing pressures that rising food costs and homelessness are placing on charities like this one, and we’re proud to contribute to their essential services. We hope this donation will help Feed Up Warm Up continue their invaluable work in Hitchin and beyond.”
Shane Cole, Founder of Feed Up Warm Up said: "We are incredibly grateful to Taylor Wimpey for this generous donation. As food costs continue to rise, we are seeing more people turning to us for help. This funding will allow us to continue providing meals and support to the growing number of individuals facing homelessness in our community. Every meal and every act of support can make a significant difference to those in need."
Taylor Wimpey’s donation reflects its ongoing commitment to giving back to the local communities surrounding its developments, with a focus on supporting meaningful local causes that positively impact lives.
We Boost Hitchin Festival with £900 Sponsorship
We have proudly sponsored the annual Hitchin Festival with a donation of £900. The money will go towards supporting two events during the festival; ‘Hitchin Creative Day’ and the ‘Art Trail’.
The sought-after annual event kicked off this year with the launch of the Art Trail on Saturday 29th June. Artists from across Hitchin and beyond have been busy installing their diverse artworks across their local town centres, showcasing a wide range of styles. Highlighting artistic talent across the community, residents and visitors alike are able to explore the local businesses hosting these artworks across the month of July.
The festivities continued with the Hitchin Creative Day at the Market Square, starting with a celebratory event featuring music, activities and stalls from local makers and creative organisations. The month-long event is a fantastic way for the local community to come together and for local artists and independently run businesses to showcase their work.
Jason Turner, Sales Manager at Taylor Wimpey North Thames said: "We are delighted to have sponsored Hitchin Festival this year. Events like these play a vital role in bringing people together and we are pleased to be able to support such an iconic event so close to our Weston Gate development. The community seemed to have a fantastic time at the Art Trail and Hitchin Creative Day last weekend."
Glyn Dogget, Director at Hitchin Creative said: "Taylor Wimpey's generous donation has significantly boosted our ability to host a vibrant and inclusive festival this year. The Hitchin Festival has been a staple in our community for 33 years, and support from local businesses like Taylor Wimpey ensures we can continue to showcase the incredible creativity within our town.”
We donated bird boxes and paints to pupils at Mary Exton Primary School
We donated bird boxes and paints to pupils at Mary Exton Primary School for the children to get creative with during Children’s Art Week 2024.
The bird boxes were donated as part of our ongoing commitment to giving back to the community surrounding Weston Gate. The children at Mary Exton Primary School had a lot of fun painting their bird boxes, and were able to take them home to their gardens for local birds and wildlife to enjoy.
Running from 29th June to 7th July (though widely celebrated in schools for three weeks), Children’s Art Week was initially created by Engage, the National Association for Gallery Education, in 2020 during the Covid-19 Pandemic when finding joy and creativity in arts became more important than ever.
A spokesperson for Mary Exton Primary School said: “The children really enjoyed painting their bird boxes and were very proud of their work. Thank you to Taylor Wimpey for donating the bird boxes!"
Jason Turner, Sales Manager at Taylor Wimpey North Thames said: “We’re so pleased that the children at Mary Exton Primary School not only had fun with painting their own bird boxes but will be able to take them to their gardens and watch wildlife turn them into a home. This activity was not only arranged to inspire creativity amongst the pupils but to also help to create an interest in welcoming wildlife to the garden.”
