Local student Tarasha Goel from Havannah First School has her winning welcome home card design printed to greet new residents
Taylor Wimpey North East recently welcomed a pupil from Havannah First School to its Newcastle development, Heathwood at Brunton Rise, to celebrate her success in their card design competition.
The housebuilder tasked pupils at Havannah First School to design a welcome to your new home card for residents at Heathwood at Brunton Rise, offering a voucher prize for the winner and the opportunity to have their design printed as the official welcome card for new residents on the development.
A number of entries were submitted with Tarasha Goel, aged 9, selected as the winner for her creative design. Tarasha recently visited the development to see her card brought to life and receive congratulations in person from the Heathwood sales team.
Following the visit, Erin Campbell, class teacher at Havannah First School, said: “We’d like to thank Taylor Wimpey for inviting our pupils to take part in the welcome card design competition for Heathwood at Brunton Rise.
“This activity gave our students a chance to demonstrate their creative design skills, and we're proud of all the pupils who contributed. Special congratulations to Tarasha for her amazing submission.”
Sarah Whittingham, Sales & Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey North East, said: “We believe in celebrating the creative potential of young people in the areas in which we build, and the welcome to your new home card design competition we organised with Havannah First School showcases this. We were pleased to hear that Tarasha was thrilled with her prize, and we appreciate the enthusiasm from both pupils and staff at Havannah First School throughout the competition."
We award The Childrens Foundation
The Children’s Foundation, a local mental and physical health and well-being charity for children and young people has been awarded £1,000 from our team after being announced as the winner of our latest Community Chest competition.
Running throughout August, the competition aimed to bring the Newcastle-Upon-Tyne community together, asking local people to nominate a charity, organisation or individual who they believe deserved a helping hand. After receiving 152 entries, The Children’s Foundation were selected as winners of the competition.
Set up in 1990, The Children’s Foundation aims to improve the mental and physical health of young people in the North East. The charity delivers weekly drop-in sessions and courses at its children’s community allotment, allowing children to get involved in various arts and craft projects while aiming to reduce anxiety and any other mental health concerns.

Julie, one of our sales executives, has been selling Taylor Wimpey homes across the North East region since 2018. With extensive experience selling homes at Newcastle Great Park, Julie is now looking forward to meeting customers who want to live on the latest phase, Heathwood at Brunton Rise.
Julie said: “I have been based at Newcastle Great Park for the majority of my time with Taylor Wimpey so I know the area well. I love it because it has a real community feel to it, with its own shopping centre, schools and community centre - it’s a wonderful location to be in.
Julie said: “My previous roles have been in customer service and I liked the idea of using my experience to help people find their new homes. For me, this is the best part of the job.
“My job is varied and can see me completing a variety of tasks including face to face and telephone appointments, discussing the benefits of new build homes with customers and progressing sales by contacting solicitors. There is never a dull moment, I enjoy the industry and have some lovely colleagues.” When she isn’t working, Julie enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren as well as taking part in fitness classes.
Working alongside Julie but in production is Scott Anderson, our Senior Site Manager for Heathwood, who has two decades of experience with Taylor Wimpey.
“I’ve been with Taylor Wimpey for twenty years, working on 15 different developments across the region in this time. I’ve been based at Newcastle Great Park for three years now - it’s close to my home and a good area to live in.”
Scott adds: “I’ve always loved the construction industry - everyday brings different challenges through my main responsibility of running the site day by day and I’m looking forward to seeing a new community form at Heathwood in the near future.”
Scott lives in Newcastle with his family but originally hails from Scotland. He is a Newcastle football club fan, holding a season ticket for their games.
