As part of celebrations for this year's VE Day, we proudly donated funds to Lighthorne Heath village Hall's coffee morning.
On Thursday 8th May 2025, local residents in Upper Lighthorne got together at Lightthorne Heath village hall to mark 80 years since VE Day with a dedicated coffee morning.
The community joined the rest of the UK in celebrating this historic anniversary, with people up and down the country hosting celebrations.
As we’re building a new community in Upper Lighthorne, we wanted to support local people honouring this occasion and made a £100 donation for supplies and refreshments to their coffee morning.
Yvonne Liddell from Lighthorne Heath village hall: “A very big thank you to Taylor Wimpey for the donation for VE Day, I speak on behalf of the people who attended who all had a great day.”
Allotment Opening
Located on Gaydon Coppice Avenue, the allotment has been delivered as part of the new homes developments in Upper Lighthorne, consisting of developers Taylor Wimpey Midlands, Barratt Homes West Midlands and David Wilson Homes Mercia.
Matthew Kendall, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Midlands, said: “It’s wonderful to see the allotment now open for this flourishing community to use and enjoy. Not only does it open up opportunities for our residents to meet and connect, it provides a space for people to spend time in nature, grow their own food and be amongst wildlife.
As part of the opening, we were delighted to donate several bug houses and several wheelbarrows to help develop this new space even further - we look forward to watching it become an integral part of the community in the years to come.
Resident Christmas Event in Upper Lighthorne
We were delighted to support a special festive event in Upper Lighthorne in December. Hosted in collaboration with Barratt Homes, David Wilson Homes, Trustgreen, the Wellesbourne and District Lions Club, and St Laurence’s Church, the event gave residents a chance to meet Santa Claus, connect with their neighbours, and enjoy a light switch-on spectacular.
We were delighted to see many residents come together to share festive cheer, with refreshments and gifts provided for local children. Between Taylor Wimpey and Barratt David Wilson, a combined £800 was donated to support the event.
Matthew Kendall, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Midlands, said: "Engaging with local communities is so important to us at Taylor Wimpey and we were really pleased to support the Christmas event. It was a joyous occasion for the local community and we are glad so many people got to enjoy it."
Local Investment
A home is more than just a house, it’s also about the community that surrounds it. And that’s why we invest in building communities that support local businesses, improve facilities in the area and help bring people together.
Over the coming years we'll be contributing...
We unveil new monument in Upper Lighthorne
The monument, which has a distinctive ‘wings and wheels’ theme - as a nod to the manufacturing and military history of the area - was designed by 14 year old Maggie Johnson. Maggie was the guest of honour at the unveiling, pulling the cloth to reveal her creation to the local community.Maggie’s design was selected several years ago after we, alongside Barratt and David Wilson Homes, organised a competition with her primary school, Lighthorne Heath Primary, to help create a focal point for the community for the years to come.
Maggie, who has since moved onto Kineton High School, said: “I really enjoyed unveiling the monument that I designed. I hope to go onto studying interior design so it’s just brilliant to say I’ve had a design sculpted in real life. It’s been great to take part and I look forward to seeing it every time I pass it.”
We support Kineton High School this World Book Day
We made a monetary donation to Kineton High School in Warwickshire to support the school’s World Book Day activities and to help inspire a love of reading among its pupils. Our donation will help the school expand its library by purchasing books from authors such as Stephen Kelman and Lauren (Wren) James. These additional books will enhance the school’s reading program and provide more literary options for pupils to enjoy.
John Larner, Assistant Headteacher at Kineton High School, said: “We are truly thankful to Taylor Wimpey Midlands for this generous contribution. The funds will allow us to enrich our library collection and provide more opportunities for our pupils to engage with exciting new books, complementing our World Book Day activities.”
