Joining us two years ago, Callum admits he initially lacked confidence and direction. “I wasn't in a great place and was hanging out with the wrong crowd, however, working for Taylor Wimpey has completely turned my life around.“Through my apprenticeship, I have not only improved my brick laying skills but I have also learnt invaluable people skills. I can confidently say that I am now fully focused on my career and future.”
Reflecting on his proudest achievement, he says: “It’s a great feeling to know I’ve contributed to building someone’s family home, especially now that I have a daughter of my own.”
Julie Pearce, Apprentice Manager at Taylor Wimpey South Midlands and East Anglia, said: “We’re proud to offer apprenticeships like Callum’s that help young people launch successful careers while contributing to their communities. We look forward to welcoming more apprentices in 2025.”

Recruitment Consultant, Callum Wallis (21), moved into his first home at Cromwell Place in March 2025 after previously living with his parents and deciding to make the big move to owning his own home.
When asked why he opted for a new-build home rather than a pre-owned one, Callum said: “I was drawn to the ease and simplicity of a new-build home. I loved the idea of everything being brand new and under warranty, with no need for renovations or unexpected issues. It was also a big plus to choose my own interiors such as flooring, kitchen style, and tiles. It made the home feel truly personal from the start, and I appreciated being the very first person to live here.”
After Callum had explored all the developers in the local area, he chose Taylor Wimpey to purchase a home from, he said: “Taylor Wimpey offered excellent value for money and house layouts that made the most of the available space. One thing that particularly impressed me was that every bedroom in the Braxton could comfortably fit a double wardrobe. That might seem small, but it showed how well thought-out the design was compared to other new-builds I’d seen in my budget.”
Having previously lived in Silsoe, Callum looked at Cromwell Place due to its convenient location in Wixams, he said: “Cromwell Place is ideally situated for commuting, with easy access to Bedford, Luton, Milton Keynes and Northampton. Beyond that, the development had a lot of appeal as it struck a balance between modern convenience and a community feel.”
Callum’s chosen house type was the three-bedroom Braxton, which he had initially been impressed with when viewing the development due to its use of space. He said: “The top floor bedroom is incredibly spacious and was honestly the clincher; I loved how bright and open it felt. The fact that each bedroom could comfortably accommodate a double wardrobe was a huge plus too, especially for future resale value and functionality.”
Commenting on the purchasing process, Callum said: “The whole process was incredibly smooth from start to finish. The sales team were brilliant and were always happy to answer questions, offered updates without being prompted, and really worked around my schedule which I appreciated a lot as I work full-time. They made what could have been a stressful experience feel enjoyable and exciting. The sales team went out of their way to ensure everything went smoothly and even arranged viewings and meetings around my work schedule. That level of flexibility and customer care made all the difference. I feel supported not just in the buying process, but even after moving in.”
Now that he’s settled in, Callum shared his thoughts on his new home: “I’m settling in really well. It’s been an exciting journey making the space my own. It’s still early days, so I’m gradually finding the best spots for everything and adding personal touches. The house already feels like home, and I love coming back to a place that’s completely mine. I absolutely love the modern feel of my home and I’m especially enjoying the master bedroom on the top floor with its electric skylights - they’re a real feature!
“The development itself is peaceful and well-planned, and I’m looking forward to seeing the community grow as more people move in. There’s a real sense of potential here. The location is fantastic too as it strikes a great balance between countryside calm and city convenience.”
Key worker Bartosz and partner Wiktoria
For Wiktoria, 27, and Bartosz, 29, moving to Taylor Wimpey’s Cromwell Place marked the purchase of their first home together. Having now moved in, the pair are busy decorating for Christmas and excited for the future on the development. Before making the move, the couple had been living separately with their respective parents in Borehamwood and Luton. After researching their options and deciding they definitely wanted a new build, they were drawn to Cromwell Place for its location in Wixams and the green space around their home.
Bartosz said: “We were initially drawn to Cromwell Place as it is conveniently located near to our family and places of work. We knew we wanted a new home, too, as we really liked the freedom of choosing our kitchen and bathroom finishes before we moved in. It was really special to see all our design choices come together in the end!”
The pair decided on a two bedroom Beaford home, after being drawn to the open plan layout, which they call “great for entertaining and spending more time together.” The couple are already looking forward to Spring so they can get out into their garden and put their own stamp on it.
The couple were also able to benefit from Taylor Wimpey’s key worker scheme*, thanks to Bartosz’ job. “We were pleased to hear about the amazing opportunity for key workers to get on the market. It’s also great to see that Taylor Wimpey supports those who put the needs of others before their own.”
Commenting further on their experience with Taylor Wimpey, the couple added: “We had a fantastic experience, the process was smooth from start to finish and the sales team were extremely attentive, with any issues being quickly rectified. There was great communication throughout.”
Upsizers Klarissa and Michael
Upsizing to a dream home
Michael and Klarissa Etienne, along with their two-year-old daughter and cat, recently found their dream home with Taylor Wimpey at its Cromwell Place development in Wixams.
Klarissa shares their journey: "We were living in a two-bedroom detached house in Biggleswade, which was becoming a tight squeeze for our growing family. We started our search and Wixams initially caught our attention as we found it an attractive place to live and the properties seemed more affordable. Cromwell Place then stood out with its proximity to a primary school and the upcoming village centre, giving us future walking access to shops and services."
Making the choice to buy a new build home was easy. Michael said: "We loved our first home, which was also a new build, and enjoyed having a blank canvas to personalise. When it came to choosing our next property, we decided to go with Taylor Wimpey, based on positive feedback from friends and the appealing house styles on offer. Jay Miah, the Sales Executive at Cromwell Place, was fantastic from day one. His positive, confident, and honest approach gave us the confidence to choose Taylor Wimpey. "
Michael and Klarissa opted for the four-bedroom Elliston, which they felt perfectly suited their needs, "The spacious master bedroom on the second floor, the large drive accommodating two cars plus additional parking space, and the garage for extra storage were a major appeal to us."
Settling into their new home has been a wonderful experience. "Having additional space, especially for our daughter to spread her toys out, and a bigger garden to enjoy the sun has been lovely," said Klarissa. She added: "Our new neighbours are friendly, and the Taylor Wimpey site team have been very attentive if we've needed help."
The family are thrilled with their new community. "Cromwell Place offers lovely walks and playgrounds right on our doorstep. We're excited to see the development progress in the years ahead.."
Reflecting on their home-buying journey, Michael adds: "The process from reservation to completion was seamless, with excellent communication from Jay. Although we were initially apprehensive about selling our property while buying a new one, it turned out to be the least stressful process."
Michael and Klarissa added: "Taylor Wimpey have given us our perfect home and a wonderful growing community to be a part of. We're grateful for their exceptional service and couldn't be happier with our decision to make a move here."
First time buyers Lora and Daniel
We are delighted to welcome Lora and Daniel as our first residents to officially move into Cromwell Place.
The move marks a significant step for the development, as they became the first occupants on site, and for them as homeowners, as they proudly took their first step on the property ladder. The couple have moved from Broxbourne in Hertfordshire, enabling them to be able to afford their new home here in Wixams.
Daniel says:
“We’re very excited to be starting afresh in Wixams. The process has been really good, with Jay, the sales executive, keeping us informed throughout the whole experience. It went quicker than we expected, too, with it being two months from seeing the property to now calling it ours. We’re thrilled to be in before Christmas!”.
World Book Day donation
World Book Day celebrations at Lakeview Primary school in Wixams were boosted by a £500 donation from our South Midlands team.
The school, located on School Lane, chose to put the funds towards purchasing brand new books for the pupils to enjoy.
As well as enjoying new books, pupils celebrated World Book Day (7th March) by dressing up in pyjamas or as their favourite character and bringing along their most treasured books for reading sessions that took place throughout the fun-filled day.
“World Book Day is a fantastic initiative our children look forward to every year - it’s a celebration of storytelling and really encourages children to hone their reading skills. This year, and thanks to Taylor Wimpey’s donation, we have been able to purchase a variety of new books to support all our students in their learning and development. We are extremely grateful for this generous donation.” Jackie Normanton, Headteacher at Lakeview Primary school
Welcome to the neighbourhood
If you're looking for a place to put down roots in family friendly Wixams with other like minded residents, then Cromwell Place is the perfect place to settle.
The development has seen many residents now move in and make themselves at home, thanks to the attractive, red brick homes and close proximity to the brand new school about to open which will be perfect for the kids to make friends at and walk to school with.
As we are located in 'village 3' of the wider town of Wixams, residents will soon benefit from having the local centre on their doorstep - ideal for popping out for a coffee and catch up. Wixams also has a great social calendar and active community group with many groups and clubs for children and adults to join. From toddler groups to Scouts and Yoga, there's something for everyone.

We teamed up with Willow Grove Primary for a Christmas Card Competition
Pupils at the newly opened school Willow Grove Primary, were tasked with designing a bright and bold Christmas card for our Cromwell Place competition, with Nyla Raine winning the competition for her ‘bold creation’ that ‘really captured the Christmas spirit’.Nyla’s design has now been formally printed, ready for her to share with family and friends. Taylor Wimpey South Midlands will also post the Christmas card to all residents living at its Cromwell Place development, which is located directly opposite the school.
All other entries from the competition have been proudly displayed in the sales office at Cromwell Place, to further showcase the creativity and efforts of the pupils.
Lisa Kennedy, Headteacher at Willow Grove Primary School, said: “We were really excited to launch this competition to our pupils as we know just how much they enjoy expressing themselves in design and getting creative, particularly at Christmas time. It’s also fantastic to know their work is being seen within the wider Wixams community, and that Nyla’s design is spreading festive cheer with local residents. We are so proud of her and all the children for their efforts.”
