Taylor Wimpey Helps Single Parent Buy New Home
A single parent has been able to get onto the property ladder and set up a new home with her young daughter 35 years to the day after her own parents moved into her childhood house.
Kate Bye and her eight-year-old daughter Evelyn were looking for their new forever home and instantly fell in love with the range of properties available at the Taylor Wimpey’s Stokesley Grange development.
Kate comments: “After renting for a while in Stokesley itself, I was finally ready to purchase my own home and liked the idea of a new build in order to eliminate the hassle of refurbishing.
“I really liked the style of homes at Stokesley Grange and the location was perfect as it enabled me to remain close to both my friends and my physiotherapy business.”
Kate selected the four-bedroom Bradenham, which comes complete with an open-plan kitchen and breakfast area, allowing her and Evelyn to spend quality time together. French doors lead onto a tranquil garden, perfect for relaxing and the large living room is great for family film nights.
Kate was able to secure the Bradenham with the Government-backed Help to Buy scheme, which allowed her to purchase the property with just a five per cent deposit.
Kate adds: “The home came with upgrades included and I couldn’t believe how impressive the finish was. I would not have been able to purchase the property if wasn’t for the Help to Buy scheme, which made life for me as a single buyer so much easier.
“The aftercare service from Taylor Wimpey was fantastic. They offered a lot of clear guidance on how the property works and the Taylor Wimpey warranty gave me peace of mind, allowing me to spend less time worrying and more time with Evelyn.
“We moved in on the same date that my parents moved into my childhood home 35 years earlier and I know that we will be as happy in our new home as I was growing up.”
Debbie Whittingham, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, concludes: “Our homes and financial schemes are specifically designed to be accessible to buyers at all stages of the property ladder and we are delighted that Kate had such a great experience.
“Stokesley Grange is one of our most desirable developments, surrounded by the stunning North York Moors national park and we just know that Kate and Evelyn will be very happy there.”
Stokesley school gets a lesson in site safety
The pupils of Stokesley Primary Academy, in North Yorkshire, recently swapped their pens for hard hats, as they learnt all about health and safety at Taylor Wimpey’s nearby Stokesley Grange development.
The homebuilder invited year one pupils to the development on Thursday 17th November, for a fun-filled and insightful session delivered by the Taylor Wimpey team.
Scott McFarlane, head teacher at Stokesley Primary Academy, comments: “The children had such a brilliant time and really understood the importance of staying away from building sites, as well as health and safety in the home.
“The visit was a fantastic, interactive experience, and a great alternative to learning outside of the traditional classroom. It not only allowed the children to explore the development, but it gave them a chance to learn what a typical day is like for those in hard hats.”
This is the third time Taylor Wimpey has partnered with Stokesley Primary Academy in recent months, following a donation of high-visibility wristbands in aid of the annual Walk to School campaign last month, and a street naming competition earlier in the year.
Debbie Whittingham, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, explains: “It’s important for children to be taught about health and safety from a young age, so it was great to see the pupils getting so involved with the activities.
“It was an absolute pleasure to welcome Stokesley Primary Academy to the development, and I hope they enjoyed the experience as much as we did.”
Stokesley Grange currently features a range of three, four and five-bedroom homes, from just £249,995.
Scott concludes: “I would like say a big thank you to Taylor Wimpey for giving the children such a memorable lesson in safety. Everybody had a great time, and we look forward to working with the team again in the not-too-distant future.”
